Our software can be used by professionals in educational and training settings, including schools, universities, and research environments. We are committed to protecting student data and maintaining compliance with relevant privacy laws.

1. Supervised Use Only

Our software is not intended for unsupervised use by individuals under 18. Any use of our software is to be fully controlled and managed by a supervising adult (e.g., a teacher, school staff member, or other professional). Students or minors do not create accounts and are not required to enter any personal information into our software.

2. Data Privacy & FERPA Compliance

We support compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and relevant state-level student privacy laws.

• No personally identifiable information (PII) is collected from students.

• No educational records are processed unless explicitly authorized by a school or district.

• All user accounts and session data are managed by the supervising professional.

4. Use of AI Tools

Some optional features in our software may use AI tools such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Whisper (e.g., to suggest new questions that avatars can ask, translations, and autocorrect text). These features are turned off by default and are intended for use by the supervising adult only. Professionals may choose to enable or disable these tools based on their institution’s policies or personal preference.

5. No Ads, No Tracking, No Sale of Data

• Our software does not include advertising.

• We do not track users across third-party websites from within our software.

• We never sell or monetize user data collected through our software.

6. Data Privacy Agreements

We are happy to review and sign a Data Privacy Agreement (DPA) upon request from educational institutions. If your district or organization requires a signed agreement, please contact us at hello@withvr.app.
